Let's Talk About It.

"Let's talk about all the good things and the bad things that may be." -Salt N Pepa -- I thought this quote was necessary.

Let's talk about how the world can be pretty messed up sometimes.

Let's talk about how it's 2015 and we're still using "gay" and "retarded" as insults.
Can that stop now please?

Let's talk about the girls that won't get asked to prom just because guys know they won't put out.

Let's talk about how getting accepted into BYU isn't a ticket to heaven.

...And let's talk about how going to school anywhere else doesn't mean that you're going to hell.

Let's talk about how messed up it was when Michael Scott left The Office.

Let's talk about the labels we stick on each other with super glue,

And let's talk about the sleep we lose over the ones stuck to our own foreheads. labels are stupid, and hurtful, and why do we use them anyway?

Let's talk about how embracing your womanhood is completely acceptable in our society until you call it 'Feminism.'

Let's talk about how as children, politicians read and believed the words of Dr. Seuss: "A person's a person no matter how small," but today they fight to legalize abortion because even the tiniest life doesn't matter if it means somebody can erase their mistake.

Let's talk about how Pornography is suddenly acceptable, and fine to play in movie theaters as long as it "has a good story line."

...And let's talk about how the rates of divorce get higher and higher all the time because everybody seems to be forgetting what love really is.

Let's talk about how there's been a suicide every year that we've been in attendance at Lone Peak, and let's talk about how we don't talk about it nearly enough. We're forgetting. We're forgetting. We're forgetting.
They don't deserve to be forgotten. Not again. Never again.

Let's talk about how ignorant people are when they say that teenagers are just diagnosing themselves with depression.

Let's talk about how it doesn't matter who diagnoses depression, because in the end it's the person who's hurting that could end up taking their own life.

Let's talk about the destructive addictions that originally started out as "fun times" people had in high school.

Let's talk about how saying horrible things about people online is "perfectly fine" as long as you are anonymous, or you don't @ their username.

Let's talk about how it's considered intelligent to stand up for what you believe in until you mention the word "God."

Let's talk about how we don't talk about our problems enough... As if we expect that not talking about our problems will fix them.

We need to stop pretending that there's nothing wrong here.
There are plenty of things that need to change.

Let's talk about it.

  1. You nailed it. One of my favorite parts of The Oscars was when someone said we need to talk about suicide out loud.

  5. This is unbelievably true and beautiful. Words can't express how happy I am to read this post. "We're forgetting. We're forgetting. We're forgetting.
They don't deserve to be forgotten. Not again. Never again." Do not let them be forgotten.
